Tammy Hammer
Barn Manager ~ Mentor ~ Guide

Tammy is one of those people whose depth reveals itself once you’ve watched her move through a few long days beside her. She brings a lifetime of lived intelligence into Bramblewood built from years of responsibility, problem-solving, and deep care for the people — and animals — around her.

Tammy is the central nervous system of our farm. Her presence brings order, calm, and continuity to everything around her. She has spent her life learning how to care for living systems, whether animal, human, or communal, and that breadth of experience shows in the way she moves through the barn.

Horses have been part of her inner landscape since she was young. She owned a horse as a teenager and carried that devotion into her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science (pre-vet) from prestigious Rutgers University, working as a veterinary technician and receptionist in a small animal practice throughout college. That foundation gave her a clear, practical understanding of animal health that still informs her work today.

Tammy shows up where care and attention is needed. She spent years in the computer field in tech support, networking, database management, and project management—developing an uncommon level of organization, systems thinking, and follow-through.

After the birth of her children, Brian and Rebecca, she turned her attention outward again, serving as a Cub Scout Den Leader, Girl Scout Troop Leader, PTA President, church office manager, and later as a special education teaching assistant, job coach, and one-on-one aide in an autism classroom. These roles required patience, adaptability, humor, and the ability to meet people exactly where they are—skills that now anchor her work at the Bramblewood.

Alongside her professional life, Tammy has always been drawn to natural approaches to health. She is an herbalist and frequency healer whose work supports both the horses and the humans at Bramblewood. Her understanding of regulation and balance is lived and intuitive. She offers sound healings at the farm, creating a deeply calming, restorative experience that many people find profound. These sessions are grounded and intentional, reflecting her belief that healing happens when we pay attention to ourselves and the landscape around us.

In 2023, Tammy moved to South Carolina with her children. When her daughter discovered Bramblewood for lessons—and eventually as an employee—Tammy jokingly offered to help out one day when the barn was short-staffed. She has been here ever since. She is easy-going, quick to laugh, endlessly curious, and unfailingly helpful. Tammy tends the herd and the daily rhythms of the farm with competence and deep respect. She does what needs doing, often before anyone realizes it needs to be done.

Bramblewood functions as it does because of Tammy. Her greatness lies in consistency, care and the trust she earns from both horses and humans. If you have a chance to work or volunteer alongside Tammy, be prepared to leave smarter, more balanced, and more deeply connected to your heart-centered practice than when you arrived.
